About Lindsay Swanberg
I write to help teachers and parents understand how to help their children and families best thrive!
I've owned and taught in my own preschool for 20 years, now, and have raised my own two beautiful children into adults.
I have my degree with an emphasis on child development, psychology, and education,
and provide parenting coaching with interested families.
I write fiction for children that focuses on finding your purpose, kindness, and inner power.
Writing for children is my favorite!
I also write to help people get in touch with their inner selves and connect to their lives and selves more authentically,
in a heartfelt way, for a more meaningful life.
These are my greatest passions!
I know we will see a day when our children lead us into a kinder and healthier humanity than the one we have known.
I love, and am honored, to be a part of this process.
I grew up near Santa Cruz, California. I loved being on the beach all day, as a child. Or at the park.
I also grew up helping raise my little sister, and resiliently developing a character that could make the most with whatever I had.
My hometown area, interestingly, contained a mix of both extreme poverty and extreme wealth. It taught me to prefer a healthier balance of living in the middle, and to wish for better for those of us who have far less than others.
The healthiest balance usually lies in the middle of two extremes, gaining wisdom from both.
Longing for more connection in my life, at a young age, I left home and traveled the country on my own, at only 16 years old. I camped in nature, met all kinds of different people in over a dozen states, made hundreds of new friends, went to concerts and outdoor raves on mountaintops under the stars, slept on the shores of the Hawaiian island, Kaua'i, for several months, and then eventually settled down to raise a family.
As much as I deeply love the adventures of my youth, it's mothering my two amazing children and teaching, for the last 20 years, that have given me a gift that words cannot describe. Well, that's not entirely true: I describe them by writing a lot about these things in my books! My books are written to share the gifts of my heart, that this life has blessed me with. I write in the hopes that my books will somehow positively touch your life for the better. And I have so many more books in the works to continue this sharing with you.
In addition to being a mother, teacher and preschool child care program owner, and author, I'm also a Reiki Master Teacher, with a two year diploma in medicinal herbalism and holistic health, and a Nichiren Buddhist. If you'd like to, you can learn more about Nichiren Buddhism HERE.
